The Beast

Darkness, always mysterious filled with uncertainty, delaying our steps, keeping us on the alert and always on edge, ruling over the night, tipping the balance to favor the beast. Since ancient times mankind’s survival has always been a collective effort, staying awake and keeping the flame alive while standing watch mitigated our clear disadvantage when the sun went down; luckily, our light bringer always shows up to rule over the day AND REMOVE THE VEIL that blurs our vision. We did not fear darkness itself, but the omen of death that came with it usually delivered by a “beast”, a powerful mighty and cruel creature. The role of the beast has been reenacted by many throughout our history, from animals of the night to rival tribes. Big cats, Canids and bears were admired but feared at the same time. Been taken by one of the lovers of the night meant having a slowly and painful death. Ironically the most famous and feared beast was not an animal but a person; an individual so feared whose name they wouldn’t even dare to mention; Instead they came up with code names using numbers such as 616 and 666.

The latin Spelling NRWQSR -in Hebrew based on Gematria-has a numerical value of 616, in greek NRON QSRN has a numerical value of 666. They both refer to the roman emperor Nero in the book of Revelation. This ruthless emperor was certainly christian’s nemesis. He slaughtered christians in different ways as means of control and punishment. Christian’s proclamation of Jesus resurrection challenged the authority of earthly rulers, both roman and jewish, by proclaiming Jesus as the one true sovereign king, thereby establishing a rival kingdom. The resurrection was seen as God’s validation of Jesus’ claim, directly positioning him as a rival to Caesar. Proclaiming Jesus as king of kings was an act of political sedition. It was customary for emperors to claim divine lineage with titles such as the son of God. During the time christians were persecuted, two thirds (2/3) of the city was burnt down in what came to be known as the great fire. The cause of the fire is unknown; soon after the fire, Nero, build a statue called “The Colossus of Nero”. The one third (1/3) of the city that remained standing draws a parallel with the one third that is mentioned cast down to earth in the book of Revelation in chapter 12

Faith is not without a sense of irony nonetheless, as Christianity is currently one third of the world’s population.

…However, Nero is not the beast we talk about.

Let’s analyze numbers for a moment.

The number 666, two thirds of a giant (Giga). When looking for area, in geometry, you can find a third point and get your bi-dimensional plane with two points out of three. These are basic concepts that even children in their subconscious have knowledge of. The triangle is the strongest shape, the basis for humanity, the family. Back when you were a kid you knew if you got only one of your parents to agree with you then you were getting away with your agenda.

If you remain in your highway route, under 66 when driving, you will not break any laws, after all, authorities don’t want you speeding like a wild beast.

Speed, strength and extravaganza are some of the characteristics we usually assign to the beast. Its tormented mind is filled with negative emotions that flourished during its isolation. Thoughts of causing pain controlling your will and tearing you apart make it drool in a heartbeat.

Also, lets not forget that trickery is one of its main attributes and most powerful tools of deception. Somehow this being found a way to blend in amongst us as a wolf in sheep’s clothing; close enough, and even closer. It learned our scent, our mental weakness, what triggers an adrenaline response just to capitalizes on it. When you find out its ways, you have already fell as a victim, and already inside its belly. Its inside is too big for you to notice you are trapped, too crowded to learn you are alone, too loud to realize your will has been silenced. As misery loves company, people around may try to convince you it is all fine but your guts know better.
